Combining spiritual and theoretical understanding with practical expertise, faculty members, together with influential Christian artists from around the world, take each student from his or her ability level and help develop a whole range of new skills. This exciting climate creates an environment for creativity. This five-month course is a general introduction to theater arts, music, dance, and a biblical perspective of the arts. The course sequence consists of a combination of three months of classroom lectures, skills sessions, and master classes, followed by a two-month field assignment that will allow for an apprenticeship period. | • | Foundations of Arts in Ministry | | • | Focusing on heart purity, the student will gain a Christian perspective of the Arts. This will include understanding biblical authority, evaluating presuppositions, and reclaiming specific art forms. | | • | Theater Arts | | • | Emphasizing the history of theater, acting, production, improvisation, voice perfection, script writing, and mime skills. | | • | Dance | | • | Technical exercises to develop posture, body alignment, strength, balance, concentration and flexibility. Emphasizing worship in dance, dance history, cross-cultural dance forms, ballet, jazz, tap, modern, dramatic dance, and choreography. | | • | Music | | • | Focuses on spiritual and practical preparation for those who desire involvement in music ministry. Biblical foundations for music ministry include theory, vocal training, songwriting, worship leading, and music history. |
